The elephant parade is one of the pre-show events at Siam Niramit, a cultural show in Phuket, Thailand. Elephants were used as war animals, and when marching to war the elephants were a key part of the procession, inspiring fear and awe in the enemy. Thai kings marched and fought at the front, rather than directing events from safety.
