Full title reads: “Spain ... a republic! Alfonso (sic) ... an Exile!! Only pictures, such as these, bring home the intensity of the drama that has so suddenly swept Spain.“ Spain. Spanish troops march in parade in front of Royal palace. Pan along balcony showing members of the Spanish Royal family including King Alphonso XIII. Library footage of Royalist parade some time before. Parade and cheering as flag of the Spanish republic is raised. Unidentified man gives rousing speech from balcony. Crowd cheers below. Good shots of people celebrating the creation of the Republic. Intertitle reads: “... so, barely escaping with his life - ’The Duke of Toledo’ now - he lands in France ... debonair and smiling as ever.“ The exiled King Alphonso walks quickly along corridor with supporters. He gets onto a railway train. He shakes hands with a few supporters. The train moves away from the crowded platform. Intertitle reads: “... to be almost ’torn to pieces’ on arrival in Paris to join Queen Ena and his family.“
