125,000 Palestinian worshippers performed Friday prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque on the third Friday of the holy month of Ramadan despite Israeli restrictions, according to the Islamic Endowments Department in Jerusalem. There was a heavy Israeli police presence around the mosque with checkpoints placed at the external gates, entrances and alleyways. Only men over 55 and women over 50 holding valid entry permits were allowed access into East Jerusalem for prayers.
