To Kill a King (2003) : A recounting of the relationship between General Fairfax and Oliver Cromwell, as they try to cope with the consequences of deposing King Charles I. 찰스1세의 통치 말년은 잉글랜드 내전(청교도 혁명)으로 얼룩졌다. 제1차 영국내전(1642년~1645년)은 찰스 1세의 패배로 끝났고 의회파는 찰스1세가 입헌군주제를 수용하길 기대했으나 찰스 1세는 아일랜드에 있는 가톨릭교도들과 내통하며 제2차 영국내전(1648년 ~ 1649년)을 일으켰다. 결국 재판에서 찰스1세는 대역죄로 사형을 선고받고 처형된다. 향년 49세.
