We’re starting in Portugal. An investigation has found that over the past 70 years, almost 5-thousand children have been sexually abused by members of Portugal’s Catholic ’s right A report by an independent commission on Monday said at least 4-thousand-815 children had been abused. It noted that the victims were mostly male and between the ages of ten and fourteen when they were abused mainly by priests. The commission, launched by the Portuguese Episcopal Conference, added that the number of cases is “the absolute minimum“ and that the findings are “just the tip of the iceberg“. In response Portuguese bishops are set to meet in March to look at ways to prevent future abuses and provide “justice“ to victims. The report comes after the Portuguese Catholic Church was hit by allegations last year of covering up cases of sexual abuse by still-active bishops. #Portugal #Catholic_Church #Arirang_News 📣 Facebook : 📣 Twitter : 📣 Homepage : 2023-02-14, 09:00 (KST)
