DYNAmore Express: Beyond FEA - Smoothed Particle Hydrodynamics (SPH)

Speaker: Maik Schenke (DYNAmore GmbH) The analysis of large deformations in solid structures often require special numerical techniques to overcome the limitations of finite-element analysis (FEA). One of these is the method of smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH). Similar to FEA, SPH is still based on a Lagrangean framework. However, it is completely mesh-free. Therefore, it is well-suited for the analysis of highly distorting continua such as largely deformed solid structures or fluids. In this webinar, at first, we will introduce the basic ideas of the SPH method followed by guidelines on how to use it in LS-DYNA. Furthermore, common application possibilities are illustrated.
