Dresden is the capital of the eastern German state of Saxony (Freistaat Sachsen). The city located on the Elbe River and is known for its historic landmarks in the Old Town (Altstadt) that we visited several times here on POPtravel. This time we will walk around more the less touristy New Town (Neustadt). We start our Dresden walking tour on a rainy day (in September 2020) at the The Versailles-inspired Zwinger palace. This building houses museums including the “Gemäldegalerie Alte Meister where several masterpieces of art are shown. Soon we reach the Augustus Bridge that we cross towards the northern part of the city called “Neustadt“. This more hip and busy area of Dresden known for its diverse nightlife. There aremany pubs and cocktail bars as well as rock clubs in former industrial spaces. We pass the Golden Rider (Goldener Reiter) on our way to the Albertplatz and Alaunstraße, one of the most vibrants streets of this district. Our tour shows some residential areas of the New Town like Prießnitzstraße
