We found this swell shark (Cephaloscyllium ventriosum) egg and embryo washed up after large storm waves south of Jalama Beach and Tarantula Point in Santa Barbara County, California on March 28, 2011. We tossed it back into a tidepool, but it will probably wash up again since it is not attached to the substrate.
