In 1965 students Syd Barrett (guitar, lead vocals), Nick Mason (drums), Roger Waters (bass and vocals) and Richard Wright (keyboard and vocals) formed this band in London. They gained popularity performing in London’s underground music scene and under Barrett’s leadership released two charting singles and a successful debut album. Due to deterioating mental health Barrett left the group in 1968 and Waters became the leader of the group. David Gilmour was added and became a full member. In 1979 they released their album ’The Wall’ which became the 3rd best selling album in the USA and certified 23times platinum. Pink Floyd was inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in 1996 and the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2005. By 2013 the band has sold more than 250 million records worldwide.
