2021 State of the World’s Midwifery report, Policy Dialogue

On 18 May 2021, UNFPA, WHO and ICM are hosting a Policy Dialogue on the State of the World’s Midwifery (SOWMy) 2021 report, which addresses the health workforce required to meet the needs of women, newborns and adolescents everywhere. The dialogue will be opened by the heads of the three lead agencies: the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the International Confederation of Midwives (ICM). A wide range of panelists, including Ministers of Health, key partner organisations, midwives and other health care providers will present the key findings and policy messages from SoWMy 2021 and what the implementation of the country recommendations would mean for sexual, reproductive, maternal, newborn and adolescent health. The global policy dialogue will highlight strategic priorities from the report that can reduce mortality and morbidity, increase access to fully functional health services and quality midwifery care that improves the health of women, newborn and families.
