EPIC & RARE! 🔥🔥Tommy Bolin and Energy. 🔥🔥 The soundtrack to “Break on Through”
The soundtrack to “Break on Through” by Bob Carmichael. Carmichael was one of the pioneers in the early 1970’s to create extreme sports films. In 1972, his first film “Break on Through“ brilliantly used Tommy Bolin to create the soundtrack with his band Energy. It featured the great climbing legends Duncan Ferguson and Roger Briggs abstractly documented the Naked Edge route in Eldorado Canyon, CO. This was the first rock climbing films to appear on network television as broadcast by ABC’s Wide World of Sports.
The soundtrack was recorded at Denver‘s Western Cine Studio on Alameda. Bob wanted Pink Floyd music, but he couldn’t afford the sync license so he hired Tommy and Energy and they all convened at Western Cine where Bob projected this film on the wall and Tommy and the band basically improvised the soundtrack with a nod to Pink Floyd. Tommy was 21 years old at the time. Energy included Bobby Berge, drums, Stan Sheldon, bass, and Tom Stephenson, keyboards.
Bob is a Director, Cinematographer & Photographer with both an Academy Award nomination and an Emmy Award to his credit. His company is Carmichael Productions, Inc located in Boulder, CO.
