Gil Elvgren (1914-1980) was one of the most important and best loved pin-up artists of the twentieth century. His heroines are often caught in humorous but distressing situations. His exquisite paintings usually depict the skirts of gorgeous girls-next-door blowing up for various amusing reasons, revealing lovely nylon-clad legs.
Elvgren studied at the American Academy of Art. He was a protege of the talented artist, Haddon Sundblom. He is best known for his pin-up paintings for Brown & Bigelow.
Elvgren’s works today are valuable and highly sought-after. His painting “Fascination“ set a record for any work by the artist when it sold for $262,900 in a Heritage Auction in June 2008.
I hope you’ll enjoy this. Please keep comments pin-up art related only. Thank you!
