This concept is perfectly affordable for us, we already told you a few days ago, 2023 has been a great year of Punk, something logical cause the world situation sucks, a lot of people are pissed off, and it has to explode in some way... But there are people who are exacerbatedly pissed off, and they have to spit out all the accumulated resentment in the form of destructive megatons... Or what’s better, to make the rest of us do it with just 10 seconds from our favorite hardcore-punk band, which already was last year with their awesome “Walang Hiya“, and now with “harsh reality“, accurate title that reaffirms everything we think, they do nothing but take their devastating proposal even further, to the limits of madness. Truly, no explanation for us, we are not so “hardcore“, you all know our minds are more twisted and angular, but we can’t resist this perfect conjunction of a splendid blunt and seamless instrumentation, and the “glorious“ vocals of Stephanie’s own hell .... Most of the songs were either finished or conceived of early in the pandemic: a time when everything was amplified, a constant reminder that “this is how things are.“ Subject matter varies from poverty and the firm grip capitalism has on our lives, to personal conflicts and police brutality, particularly in the band’s home city of Chicago. Stress Positions intelligently uses the trappings of hardcore punk to address sexuality, finding freedom from religious oppression, guilt, and shame, and the resulting auditory assault is an apt reflection of the world around us. It feels as if you never get a chance to breathe, and when you do, it’s a brief, desperate gasp.
