The song was originally recorded by Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys in 1940. Cline’s version of the song is considered to be one of the best recordings of all time. It was recorded for Decca on February 4, 1963 during a recording session running from 7:00 - 10:00 pm, where she recorded Faded Love, Someday You’ll Want Me to Want You, and Love Letters in the Sand, at Columbia Studios, on 16th Avenue South, in Nashville. “Faded Love“ was was the title track of a the planned for late March release. The album was cancelled and Decca issued “The Patsy Cline Story“ a few months later. Patsy Cline’s “Faded Love” album was cancelled because she died in a plane crash before it could be released.
