“On a Sea of Glass“ - TITANIC 111 Anniversary Livestream with guests Ken Marschall and George Behe

This year, I am pleased to invite Tad Fitch, J. Kent Layton, and Bill Wormstedt -- the historians behind the books ’On a Sea of Glass: The Life & Loss of the RMS Titanic’ and ’Recreating Titanic and Her Sisters: A Visual History’ -- to team up with me yet again to commemorate, in real time, the anniversary of the Titanic disaster. We invite you to join us at 9:30pm EDT, 14-15 April 2023 on my YouTube Channel Part-Time Explorer when we go live. This year, we are honored to be joined by special guests Ken Marschall, renowned artist and the foremost visual historian of the Titanic and her sisters; George Behe, historian, author, and past vice-president of the Titanic Historical Society; and Alex Moeller, the digital artist and animator behind my documentaries “The Full Story of the S.S. Atlantic: 150th Anniversary Edition“, “The Eastland Disaster: Incompetence, Negligence, and Regulation“. Also Levi Rourke, animator of the Titanic animation featured in this video and lead programmer of our upcoming virtual museum experience, “The Greyhound’s Wake“. We have some exciting things in store for all those who join us: an update on the forthcoming HFX Studios’ Lusitania experience “The Greyhound’s Wake“, as well as a giveaway of a copy of “Recreating Titanic and Her Sisters: A Visual History“ and of our new album “Liners of the Golden Era: A Musical Tribute“. We are also starting the stream earlier than we have in previous years, so that we can help to set the stage for the events of the disaster even before the collision takes place, and we will be staying on afterwards with some never before seen footage from the real-time sinking animation as we discuss a number of Titanic-related topics, including the scope of the updates that Tad, Bill, and Kent are currently making to the fourth-edition text of their book ’On a Sea of Glass: The Life & Loss of the RMS Titanic’. It was some 10 years ago, in 2013, when I began a tradition of commemorating the sinking through these streams back when I was with the Titanic: Honor and Glory project; Kent, and later Tad and Bill, began to join me in these real-time anniversary livestreams in 2019 because I place the actual historians in the ’driver’s seat’ -- even helping to create an animation that reflects their research, to their specifications. This is thus the only real-time experience that bears the title of their work. It truly is an honor to be able to join Titanic enthusiasts from around the world to commemorate this ’touchstone’ moment of the 20th Century. Join us in real-time, pose questions that our panel will attempt to answer, and experience Titanic as you never have before.
