Did you catch this historical reference in Incredibles 2? The film features a sequence where Mr. Incredible struggles to understand Dash’s new math assignment, questioning why anybody would change math. The film is meant to be set during the 1960s, during which America was reacting to the Sputnik crisis with the New Math movement. This temporary education movement strove to teach children to compete with Soviet engineers, and was highly controversial among parents at the time.
