Alexander Selimov, USA Alexander Selimov (also Selim Azimovich Selimov) was born in Makhachkala in 1963, in a family of teachers and artists. He graduated from the University of Dagestan in 1986 and worked as a military translator in the Department of International Relations of the Ministry of the Armed Forces of Cuba until 1989. In 1990, he entered the master’s program at the University of Delaware in the United States, and after graduation - at the graduate school of the University of Pennsylvania. He defended his PhD in Spanish language and Literature in 1996. He holds the academic title of Professor of Spanish and Latin American literature at the University of Delaware. He is an honorary member of the Union of Writers and Artists of Bolivia and an honorary Cultural Ambassador of UNESCO. He is the author of books and literary articles published in Spain, the USA, Canada, South Korea and Azerbaijan.
