’Stop funding genocide of Palestinians’ anti-war protest at US hearing on aid to Israel, Ukraine

Anti-war protesters disrupted the congressional hearing on Tuesday as US President Biden’s advisers requested billions more dollars for Israel and Ukraine. Testifying before Congress, Blinken sought $106 billion, with $61.4 billion for Ukraine, $14.3 billion for Israel, and additional funds for relief efforts. Congress has already approved $113 billion for Ukraine since Russia-Ukraine conflict, but Biden’s $24 billion request for more funds in August failed to move ahead. The path for Biden’s latest funding plan is uncertain, with House Republicans proposing cutting out Ukraine aid and focusing on Israel alone. Biden’s support for Israel, which already receives $3.8 billion in yearly US military aid, has drawn criticism amid global calls to protect civilians in Gaza. Meanwhile, the Pentagon is sending an additional 300 troops to the Middle East as the number of attacks on US bases in Iraq and Syria continues to climb. According to Palestinian authorities, Israel’s ongoing blockade has claimed over 8,300 lives, including 3,400 minors, leaving a critical shortage of fuel, food, and clean water. __________________ ShanghaiEye focuses on producing top-quality contents.
