THE INSTRUMENT Three-manual harpsichord by Hieronymus Albrecht Hass, Hambourg, 1740 (collection Rafael Puyana, Paris). This is the most elaborate 18th century harpsichord to come down to us, representing the zenith of the German makers’ art. One of the rare period instruments with an original 16’ stop. Five set of strings and six registers: two 8’, one 4’, one 16’, one 2’, a lute stop and a harp stop on the 16’. Instrument admirably restored by Andrea Goble, from Robert Goble and Son, Ltd, Oxford.
