Bubbles Freezing in Slow Motion

Slow motion video of bubbles freezing on a cold (16 °F / -9 °C) January 2017 morning in Arvada, Colorado. While trying to photograph freezing bubbles, I recorded video of some of my attempts to create and place the bubbles. More often than not, the bubbles break right away. This video contains a few of the successful attempts. I recorded the video at twice the playback rate resulting in half-speed slow motion. Because the bubbles freeze so quickly (usually under 30 seconds), I prefocused the camera and tried to place the bubbles in the same spot. View some of my photographs at .
