the drummer lost his glasses ! A living legend from the fusion jazz. Bassist Stanley Clarke (Philadelphia, 1951) started out as a rock musician, but in the early seventies he was part of the famous Return To Forever group, together with pianist Chick Corea, another such monument in jazz history. Clarke ensured that the bass would play a more prominent role in the sound of this fusion group. He realized this through his special technique, where he could switch smoothly from electric to acoustic bass. After 1977 Clarke worked with Quincy Jones, Stan Getz, Art Blakey, Paul McCartney, Jeff Beck, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, George Duke and Herbie Hancock. In 1998 he formed his own group Superband; he also created furore as a composer for film and TV projects.
