Comet Halley, 1986 by La Silla Observatory (ESO)

“Today — December 9, 2023 — the most famous of comets — Halley’s comet — passed the aphelion point — the point of its orbit farthest from the Sun. It is now far beyond the orbit of Neptune, but is already beginning its next fall into the inner part of the Solar System. In 38 years — in 2061 — it will again shine in the earth’s sky.“ Photographed at Silla Observatory Credit: ESO “This beautiful image of Comet Halley and its tail was taken during its final passage through the inner Solar System. This color photograph was assembled by combining three separate exposures taken from telescopes at La Silla Observatory in Chile in 1986.“ Music by Andrey Klimkovsky @AndreyKlimkovsky Track «Above the Earth with a comet» Bandcamp: NEANE Records: Video editing by pictuREflection @pictuREflection #Sky #CometHalley #Comet #Halley #LaSillaObservatory #Observatory #ESO #astrophotography #AndreyKlimkovsky #ambient #music
