While modern Quranic scholars claim the Qur’an has been perfectly preserved, early, respected authorities of Islam like Ibn Abi Dawad admit that some verses of the Qur’an were lost. As-Sayuti of the 16th century also states that much of the Qu’ran had disappeared. Sahih Muslims said that many verses had been forgotten. Even Sahih al-Bukhari admits that some verses were “canceled.” How then can the Qu’ran have been perfectly preserved as modern scholars claim?
