Akai 747 reel to reel--hammer fix!

I got my my vintage Akai GX-747 reel to reel for free off Craigslist, but it is running weird. I carefully use a rubber mallet to whack it so you guys can see what is going on with it. The left side small drive belt is missing, the right side is ok- and I know you can buy the drive belt kit. Will that fix it? I doubt it. What’s wrong with this thing, you guys got any ideas?
