This is “the Face of Depression on a Continent“ I happen to think when I hear that haunting refrain “Liebe war es nie !“/That was never love/. I do not know anything about Fred Markush apart from the fact that he had composed in early 30s a few tangos of overwhelming strength of their refrains and that some of them were first published in Budapest. Tango became a world success still in 1932; other recordings will be here presented. This one belongs to Walter Weisst Archive.
