The new World Champion at the -60 kg weight category Lukhumi Chkhvimiani is a Svans, an ethnic subgroup of the Georgians living mostly in Svaneti, a region in northwest Georgia. In Svaneti there are several of Europe’s highest peaks. The Svans are well known for their physical strength.
