Dance Time (1926)

Filmed at Palais de Danse in Wimbledon. Top shot of a dance floor with ornate lamp in foreground and many couples dancing. Intertitle and style of dress seem to suggest that it is daytime dancing - could be a “tea dance“. C/U of feet doing “Charleston“ style steps. Woman sits by the side of the dance floor and watches. Jack Hobbs is present at the dance and smiles at the camera. He is signing autographs. The Waltz is demonstrated by Miss Phyllis Haylor and Mr Alec Millar, World’s Ballroom champions (Mixed) 1925 etc. Young people watch the dancing and applaud. Phyllis and Alec demonstrate their own special version of the Charleston. Miss Lucille Sergeant and Mr Edward Blunt (finalist in various London and Paris championships in 1925-6) demonstrate the “one-step“. Sped up footage of couples dancing.
