Arica to La Paz by train (Chile / Bolivia)

A journey from Arica on the Pacific coast of Chile to La Paz, capital of Bolivia, high in the Andes. This line was once a busy freight link to Bolivia, and had adhesion and rack sections. A stunning ride where we climb over 12,224 feet as we ascend to the Altiplano in our Bolivian railcar. Part of a longer trip in Chile and Bolivia organised by Ffestiniog Travel in November 1997.
