20 UNCOMMON Jazz Standards you should know

So you’ve learned the 25 or so standards you need to sit in at a few jam sessions, maybe play a few gigs - but you’re looking to expand your repertoire? In this video I will tell you about 20 of my personal favorite standards that don’t get played too often. These are all songs that I learned during my time in New York City (2000-2009), when I was trying to learn as much as I could from the musicians I knew there. For this video I focused on songs that have lyrics and would be considered part of the ’Great American Songbook’ - and I think you will enjoy the variety of great melodies here. I hope you will use this video as inspiration to go and learn some of these songs and perform them more often. Included here are compositions from Henry Mancini, Cole Porter, Burton Lane, Jerome Kern, Johnny Mandel and several others.
