Bagel Boy is a jazzy instrumental piece with a lofi hip-hop touch by American twin brothers Nick and Mike Rufolo aka @BrothersNylon, shot & recorded in their studio in Melbourne Beach, Florida.
Mike tells us some stories about this track: “We had just moved to Florida and found a new studio. Around this time we were testing out the sound of the new room with multiple recordings and instruments such as drums, brass, saxophone and guitar. The core of the tune was composed on our keyboard. We built the tune by recording on our Tascam 388 analog tape machine. After the keyboard was tracked, the overdubs began. We drew a lot of inspiration from listening to lofi music YouTube channels and wanted to explore the beat tape-esque vibes but with analog instrumentation and production. Before we moved to Florida we lived in New York and ate bagels almost every day because our dad worked at a local bagel store. Bagel Boy is a phrase me and Nick called each other during the recording of this tune.“
In 2016 we released a compilation of some of their grooviest tracks titled Golden Bagels, to facilitate diving into their gigantic discography. We now present Lofi Sauce, a 16-track sequel, finally engraving on wax some of their most popular tunes like London Falling, Tea Cosy and Ay Uh!, as well as some forgotten treats that were still unreleased to this day.
