The Steilneset Memorial was erected in memory of 91 victims of the witch trials held in Finnmark during the 17th century. A monument to 91 people who were burned as witches during the period of 1598 to 1692 in Vardø. The memorial was designed by artist Louise Bourgeois and architect Peter Zumthor.
