Pantera - The Underground In America & (Reprise) Sandblasted Skin bass cover by Zisis Marangianos

Today I’m attempting a pair of monster songs by Pantera, on bass. These songs are unique in that both the guitar and the bass tune their thickest string down to an octave in relation to the next string, so G-G-C-F-A-D at 425 Hz for the guitar and, correspondingly, G-G-C-F at 425 Hz for the bass... and this back in 1996! There’s a video snippet in “3 Watch It Go“ where Dime “modifies“ a guitar to accomodate the beast string that he needed for the two songs. Who knows what Rex did? Probably just got the thickest string he could find at that time. ################ EDIT: Looks like I was completely wrong about the guitar. The Underground/Sandblasted guitar is the one Dime receives at around the 32 minute mark of the video, with the Snakeskin finish and a tune-o-matic bridge. A video by Ola Englund where he went to Dime’s house and saw his guitar collection, shows that the Underground/Sandblasted guitar was at some point modified to have fine tuners. According to Gr
