Live from Belgrade as Djokovic returns from Australia

Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic returns to Belgrade on Monday, January 17 after being deported from Australia for having lost an appeal in a deportation trial case. A full federal court dismissed the tennis star 11-day battle to restore his visa. Djokovic had travelled to Melbourne in order to play in the Australian Open tennis tournament but was later held in a hotel because he didn’t have proof of vaccination against COVID-19, which is criteria for travellers entering Australia. Australian immigration minister Alex Hawke cancelled the visa arguing his presence in Australia could incite ““civil unrest““ and encourage others to eschew COVDI-19 vaccination.
