Feminine Pictorialities No. 9 - Those Necessary Bags Hand (1934)

Titles read: “NOW OUR SPECIAL SECTION for the Ladies - Feminine Pictorialities No. 9 - Those Necessary Bags - (HAND)“. Probably filmed at Pathe Studio, London. A woman wearing a striking printed scarf adjusts a vase of flowers then turns around to show her handbag in the same printed fabric, with a perspex clasp (I want it!). Another woman lights a cigarette while showing us a white clutch bag with a large initial ’P’ on the front. Similar purses with the letters ’E’ and ’B’ are seen. A larger bag made in one of the new tinsel angora materials is shown. For bathing we are shown a linen bag lined with oiled silk for wet towels and bathing suit. The girl showing off the bag unties her halter neck top (saucy). A black calf bag has a fastening in the shape of a small golf club. A clutch bag for cruising is decorated with three small silver ships. A black bag has a watch concealed in the clasp so you can open a shutter to see what time it is. Note: female commentator.
