Big Hammerhead Shark School swimming right at me! From “Infamous Latham“🦈 #shorts #shark #bullshark

I had seen the hammerheads in Latham Island before but they are usually moving against the current. When you see the school in the distance the first instinct is to swim directly at them (for those who are trying to film them I guess🤣) and what ends up happening is when you actually intercept them you end up on the back of the school, behind their tails. Which is not the best angle IMO. So instead, I swam as fast as I could, almost parallel to the school, hoping to close the gap in the distance. My plan was to dive up current of them so the school would swim right up to me. This was the shot I had in mind and it all makes a lot of sense untill your legs start burning (in these situations I push my feet down too, so there is no splashes on the surface when swimming) as you are also trying to breath up. I knew I would only have one chance. I would do one dive and then would be so far behind them it would be almost impossible to get back ahead. I had swam a lot by now and I would not have much more time
