The Maytals’ smash boss reggae hit from 1969, as featured on the documentary, ’Rudeboy: the Story of Trojan Records’. The record proved a major Jamaican hit for the vocal trio featuring lead singer and main songwriter, Frederick ’Toots’ Hibbert, Henry ’Raleigh’ Gordon and Nathaniel ’Jerry’ Matthias In 1972, the recording featured on the soundtrack to Perry Henzell’s cult movie, ’The Harder They Come,’ and 2004, the track made the Rolling Stone’s list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. Since its original issue on Beverley’s (in Jamaica) and Trojan (UK), the Fredrick Hibbert-penned song has often been covered often, most notably by the Clash, the Specials, Keith Richards and Izzy Stradlin & the Ju Ju Hounds.
