There’s no denying that Earth’s orbit is a tangled mess. As of July 2023, the number of orbital objects sized 10 centimeters or 4 inches or greater is estimated to be over 23,000. In August, space debris flying toward the International Space Station forced an evasive maneuver. One month later, the US Federal Aviation Administration stepped in and proposed a rule that would limit the amount of time that private rockets’ upper stages stay in orbit and reduce the potential for collisions with spacecraft and satellites to promote a sustainable space environment. But, is there any other solution to make the space less junk? SpaceX’s Starship is a good answer!
