Thousands protest against German coronavirus measures

Thousands of protesters took to the streets in the north-eastern city of Rostock in Germany on Monday calling for an end to restrictions against the unvaccinated. A large police presence accompanied the demonstration which remained peaceful. Protests have begun taking place across Germany every Monday as the government drive to contain the Omicron virus continues. In Rostock a small group of counter demonstrators held signs reading: ’Masks in, Nazis out’. On Monday, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said tighter restrictions would be announced in the coming week which are likely to include contact restrictions and restrict public life for unvaccinated Germans even further. ***Germany has mandated an unvaccinated lockdown, is considering a full lockdown and mandatory vaccines to stop the spread of Coronavirus and protect its citizens.
