“Make Good Use of All” For this our aim, we try to reduce waste of producing loss to zero and started “tunagi” project. “Tunagi” is a Japanese word meaning “connect”. “Tunagi” yarn which is connected and reworked each leftover yarn is one of the methods to reduce environmental load. We will connect limited resources and contribute to recycling society for our future. When we produce knitwear, there are always some leftover yarns. We can’t use yarns of different dyeing lots because the colors and hand feelings are slightly different even in the same color. These leftover yarns accrue about 100kg in the course of the year. We can’t eliminate cast-off yarns although we use a contempo technique which is a wholegarment knitting machine. Trying not to waste them, “tunagi” yarn was born. Generally, there are many knots because of connecting randomly about 100 leftover cones, and it becomes defect. However, we use Splicing Machine that is a special yarn connecting machine and clear a quality standard. Every cone has its own unique color. We use six “tunagi” yarns to produce pullover knits, and they are all bright, colorful, and also one of a kind. “Tunagi” project is how we think of creating a new value for leftover yarns by our technique for connecting yarns and introduction for knitting self-manufacture system.
