Evgeny Lieberman playing Shostakovich’s 24 Preludes, op. 34. This comes from a rare LP, recorded in 1961, combined with a lecture on the preludes. Lieberman (1925-2003) studied with Heinrich Neuhaus. He had a long teaching career at the Gnessin Academy from 1958 onwards, and is remembered for his book Working on Piano Technique (Работа над фортепианной техникой). This has been translated into Czech and Japanese, with English and German translations to follow. His first marriage was to another Neuhaus pupil
