The Rick Marotta signature hipgig offers drummers a shell pack that can be packed into a compact case for easy transport. When packed up, the two tom toms and snare drum fit neatly into the two-piece bass drum. “In all the years I’ve been with Yamaha I have never put my name on any one product, because I could never make up my mind. I could not, however resist the Hipgig kit. It is one of the great drum innovations by Yamaha and Takashi (Hagi) Hagiwara. I have been using it live and in the studio for all types of music. Everytime someone hears or plays it, they are surprised that such a small kit has such a diverse sound. It is also the most intelligently designed portable kit I have ever seen.“ ’ Rick Marotta Height adjustment on the pedal side of the bass drum is possible with the pipe post stabilizer. Use of this system ensure that the beater makes contact at the center of the head. The stabilizer fits into a pipe clamp on the underside of the drum that allows quick and easy adjustment of the height. The post is equipped with a memory clamp that ensures subsequent settings will be quick and precise every time, while a pair of supports provides added stability. The kit we have here also comes with the matching Rick Marotta signature drum throne, these are super hard to come by! Like the bass drum, the throne opens up and can comfortably carry all of the hardware for the kit. This kit also comes with the two outer carry bags which both have shoulder straps and the inner case with dividers which holds the two toms and snare and protects the inside of the bass drum. This set is in excellent condition with all the proper original components. We have re-headed all the batter side heads and fitted a new Evans EC2 frosted head with Yamaha Logo.
