Uralin perhonen/ Far away from Ural (finnish) part 1/2

Camera Cagliostro´s latest puppet animation “Far away from Ural“ (dir. Katariina Lillqvist, 26 min.) has aroused a huge cultural discussion in Finland. The animation tells about the cruel Finnish Civil war (1918) where fellow citizens were slaughtered without any trial. What is more scandalous, the film hints that the holy man of Finnish history - one of the responsibles in the war - Marshal C.G. Mannerheim was possibly gay. The reactions show that the wounds of the war are still there. The director’s privacy has been threatened.
