Hagia Sophia, Istanbul, Turkey

Hagia Sophia (or Ayasofya in Turkish) is a grand example of surviving Byzantine architecture. Located in the Old City in Istanbul, Turkey, the current Hagia Sophia dates back to 537 and it has served as an Eastern Orthodox Cathedral, a Roman Catholic Cathedral and an Imperial Mosque before being converted into a museum in 1935. The interior is magnificient and breathtaking. Very astounding to see both Christian and Islamic elements in the same place. It is also amazing to see how well-preserved the archite
