The teams and the athletes reported impressive feedbacks for the event organized by ASD Esatrail and Superbike Team, with the support of Regione Marche and the Municipality of Esanatoglia on Sunday, April 30th. The event also witnessed the display of top-class performers, with Luca Braidot and Sofie Pedersen leaving their mark on the race, as well as a morale boost leading into the World Cup campaign. The Italian rider preceded U23 World Champion Simone Avondetto and his twin Daniele Braidot, whilst the talented Dane finished ahead of Martina Berta after an exciting duel. Elian Paccagnella and Elisa Lanfranchi topped the Junior races, on a day that managed to dodge the heavy clouds in spite of the unpromising weather forecasts. Number 1 on the back (and the bike), number 1 at the finish: Luca Braidot didn’t disappoint and took the win at Santoporo XC in Esanatoglia, his second seasonal win in the Internazionali d’Italia Series after netting the opener in San Zeno di Montagna (Italy) in March. The Team Santa Cruz-Rockshox’s rider, the series’ defending champion, left behind U23 World Champion Simone Avondetto (Wilier-Pirelli) and his twin Daniele Braidot (CS Carabinieri). Daniele Braidot completed the opening lap ahead of the rivals in single-file line, with Wilier-Pirelli’s Cameron Orr and Ktm-Protek’s Andreas Emanuele Vittone in his wake. The big guns started to get real in the lap-2, forming a five-man leading group including Nadir Colledani (Santa Cruz Rockshox Pro Team), Luca and Daniele Braidot, Orr and Simone Avondetto, with a few-second edge on Charlie Aldridge (Cannondale Factory Racing) and Vittone. The leaders’ speeded up their pace extending their advantage in the following lap. Avondetto seemed to lose contact in the fourth lap, managing however to get back on the lead group together with Vittone in a slow fifth lap (11:53). Meanwhile, Filippo Fontana kept progressing lap by lap, arriving in the wake of the leaders before hearing the bell for the final lap’s ring. Luca Braidot and Avondetto tried to force the pace in the final lap, getting back instant reciprocal reactions. The race was decided a few hundred meters before the finish line due to the ultimate dig by Braidot, which forced Avondetto to surrender. The U23 World Champion managed to grab the second position ( 5“) and the GC lead by overtaking Nadir Colledani, fourth today at 16“, just behind Daniele Braidot ( 11“). The great balance in the GC is highlighted by the four riders in a 20-point space: Avondetto leads with 170 points ahead of Colledani (165) and the Braidot twins, paired at 150. This quartet will fight for the Internazionali d’Italia Series leader’s jersey in the last two rounds of La Thuile and Chies d’Alpago, both Hors Catégorie races. Sofie Pedersen achieved her first career success at Internazionali d’Italia Series in Esanatoglia, prevailing over the Italian Champion Martina Berta after an exciting duel that characterized the Open Women race of the Santoporo XC. In the final lap, the Wilier-Pirelli Dane unleashed the decisive attack and celebrated on the finish line ahead of the Italian rider of Santa Cruz-Rockshox. With the second place, Berta strengthened her overall lead in view of her “home” Internazionali d’Italia Series event scheduled in La Thuile in June. Pedersen has further established her domain among Under 23 riders. Italian Giada Specia (Wilier-Pirelli) completed the day’s top-3 at 2’08”, preceding Sara Cortinovis (Santa Cruz), fourth at 2’33”, and Chiara Teocchi (KTM Protek), fifth at 5’46”. Pedersen started off in high gears, selecting a 4-rider group including Berta, Sara Cortinovis and Giada Specia. The Dane managed then to outdistance her rivals with the only Berta able to contain the gap within 10 seconds after lap 2. The Internazionali d’Italia Series Women’s leader managed to get back on the lead and then attack Pedersen, but the Dane gave another showing of solidity, soloing to win solo thanks by digging deep at the top of the first climb and never looking back. #InternazionalidItaliaSeries More info: BTT Lobo Website: Do you want featured your videos?
