A week on The Harz Mountain Railways - Lineside

My first foray into foreign steam on a trip organised by a friend of my dad to Germany to visit the Harz Mountain Railways. We stayed in a lovely hotel in the town of Wernigerode from Friday the 6th until Friday the 13th. Wernigerode is the main starting point of the line and is where the main shed and loco facilities are. The main line goes to the top of the Brocken, the highest peak in the Harz mountains and is also the highest peak of Northern Germany at 3,743ft above sea level. Half way along the main line is the station of Drei Annen Hohne which is a junction station with one line going to the Brocken and one to Eisfelder Talmühle, another junction station with lines going to Nordhausen Nord and Quedlinburg. The line to Quedlinburg has two junctions at Stiege where trains can be caught to Hasselfelde and Alexisbad where trains can be caught to Harzgerode. The whole network in total is 87 miles (140km). This video includes the linside and general non-onboard videos I took during my stay. Locos featured in this video are: - DR Class 2-10-2s 7234, 99 7239, 99 7243, 99 7237, 99 236 & 99 7235. - DR Class V 100 861 - DRG Class 2-10-2 222 - NWE Class 0-4-4-0 5902 - Railbus 017 Thought I’d do something a bit different and put the shots in order of where they were taken on the line, in ascending and descending order.
