Black Hole Wobbles While Warping Space-Time - Animation

In the binary black hole system V404 Cygni, a relatively small black hole and a sun-like star orbit one another while the black hole siphons material from its cosmic partner. -- Full Story: Mass from the star spirals into the black hole’s accretion disk, and intense radiation near the center of that disk causes it to swell. The gravitational pull of the massive doughnut-shaped core of the accretion disk is so powerful that it distorts the fabric of space-time, causing the black hole to wobble like a spinning top and rapidly reorienting its jets.
