Nightmare Robots (1968)

Bruce Lacey a comedian from London designs his own robots. See some of his crazy robots such as the kissing robot here. Somewhere near the Caledonian Road, London. Various shots show a bizarre robot moving along a street; it is operated by comedian Bruce Lacey with a remote control box. The robot has moving arms (human-style), a flashing lamp for a head and a pair of luscious red lips. At Bruce’s home we see more surreal robots in a cluttered workshop, several with moving body parts and mannequin heads. Bruce adjusts the first robot we saw and demonstrates the kissing lips. Several shots of the workings of the robots; a mannequin male head with moving eyes - spooky! Bruce apparently had one of these robots as best man at his wedding; it handed him the ring on cue, via remote control. Note: on file is a small magazine cutting and cameraman’s notes. Alternative spelling: Lacy. See also CP 461 - SPARE PART ART (*PM0245*). FILM ID: A VIDEO FROM BRITISH
