Hella: The daughter of Loki

Hi everyone! I´m a big mythology fan and since watching the Thor movie i have been reading some Nordic mythology, specially the ones revolving Loki. In the mythology Loki had a daughter with a giant, named Hella, but she had a very peculiar physical appearance: her rigth side was the one of a pretty girl and her left side was the one of a decomposing corpse, with worms living inside of her and rotting!. When Loki brougth her to Asgard, she was feared by everyone even if she was actually a very kind and smart girl. In this point there are 2 sides of the story: Odin realizes that everyone is disgusted by having her living among gods in Asgard and cruelly banishes his own niece to live among her similars (aka: the dead). In the other version of the story Odin realizes how sad she is to be ignored and hated by everyone because of her apperance and he kindly asks her is she would like to live in a diferent place where she could rule among beings that wouldn´t fear her but she would live far away from her father, she thinks about it for a while and she chooses to go. In both version after she arrives to this realm of dead she becomes their absolute queen and this kingdom its named after her: Hellheim or as we know it now “Hell“ I really wanted to work with this story and the relationship between Loki and Hella, i do belive Loki (in thor movieverse) would be a great father and i wanted to picture Odin as an “in the middle“ of the 2 versions. He is just a king trying to do whats best for his kingdom. and as always he had a puropose in exilling her. STORY: (set in pre-Thor timeline) Hella is the daughter of Loki and the frostgiant Angroboda, when she is born, Loki takes her to Asgard, where she is welcomed to her familly. However as she grew Loki and the rest of the kingdom couldn´t forget that she was a “half frostgiant“ [actually a pure frost giant, but none Odin and Friga know this] (you saw how much pain was for Loki to find out he was a frostgiant too!) and then realize she had a power none could imagine she possesed. She carried death upon whatever she desired. She wasn´t evil, not even bad but living in a realm of inmortals it was a constant fear for everyone there that one day she would not be able to control herself and will up killing someone. Odin talked to Loki. He told him that as she grew up, her powers did too and that one day it would be to dangerous to let her live among them. (she would become the image of the Grim Reaper) Loki didn´t understad, what could she do? she was an innnocent girl, she was Asgardian, his granddaughter, a goddess.... “The goddess of death!“ he replied. Odin also couldn´t let go of her true heritage, the rest of the asgardians didn´t like living with a “traitous“ killing creature. One day Loki woke her up, he looked sad. Odin was summoning her to a meeting. They discussed, Loki defended her, she pleaded but in the end Odin decided that it would be the best that she got vanished to a diferent world, to a realm where she couldn´t harm was heartbroken, but his mother consolated him. She believed Odin had a reason for doing it. .... Hella wakes up in a dark place, filled with corpses and strange sounds. She keeps looking and finds an old palace. When she gets in she is welcomed by the ghost of an old great king. At first she is very scared but suddenly realizes that it was mainly from the shock, She doesn´t fear them. She feels comfortable with them. As she is observed by the king, he realizes what a kind person she is and the King makes a decisión. Even if he was a king in life, now in dead he is just another spirit like the rest. But she is an inmortal goddess. The king makes a choice. The kindom of the dead proclames her as their new queen. This would be her kingdom, named after her: HELL. And as she is realizing how well everything turned out she sees a familiar face in the crowd. A father wouldn´t miss his only daughter coronation after all.
