Book Talk: “Muhammad and the Empires of Faith“ - Prof. Sean Anthony

Georgetown Graduate Association for Islamic Studies (GGAIS) hosted this event over Zoom on Wednesday, Sep. 16, 2020, 12pm-1:30pm EST In the lecture, Prof. Anthony (Ohio State University), talks about his newly published book: Muhammad and the Empires of Faith: The Making of the Prophet of Islam (2020), in which he offers a fresh look at the formation of sīra-maghāzī literature in its Late Antique context and how academic historians can work with it, along with other kinds of historical sources from the seventh-century, to advance the academic study of the historical Muhammad.
