Led Zeppelin - Live in Los Angeles, California (June 3rd, 1973)

I really want to thank tmtomh over the Led Zeppelin forum for sending me his own personal version of this show. He took the JEMS transfer of this show and made some repairs to the recording to make it sound as listenable as possible. All credit goes to him. Below is his explanation of what he did: “Led Zeppelin The Forum June 3, 1973 40TH ANNIVERSARY REPAIRED VERSION June 3, 2013 This is based on the fantastic AUD recording, expertly transferred from the JEMS Master - DAT (16/32) source. This is a wonderful audience source, documenting an incredible show. Some feel this is Led Zeppelin’s best performance of the 1973 North American tour. Unfortunately the tape is marred by a handful of major cuts, dozens of small dropouts, and most seriously by intermittent tape-speed issues. The speed problems come in the form of warbling, so they’re impossible to repair. The goal here has been to make this show listenable, from beginning to end. To that end, the main repairs have included: (1) Small single-channel dropouts have been repaired by copying material from the good channel. (2) Small two-channel dropouts have been repaired simply by cutting them out. (3) Large cuts, and sections with speed/warbling issues, have been cut and faded in or out as needed. This has resulted in the removal of one entire track (The Song Remains the Same), and the removal of most of two other tracks (No Quarter and The Rain Song). (4) Occasional volume swells and similar fluctuations have been smoothed out. No other changes have been made to the sound - no EQ, no compression, no reverb. The tape is still not perfect, but everything truly jarring has been removed or repaired. Headphone listeners will notice some shifts in the soundstage as the tape goes back and forth from stereo to mono because of the necessary repairs. Finally, many thanks to JEMS for taping and safeguarding this great source; to Weedwacker for his always-impeccable transfers; and to Winston for his inspiration (he produced a great remaster of this show, based on a slightly inferior source, back in 2004).
